THE SHY LIFE PODCAST - 809: GEEKY PANDA AND THE RETURN TO YETI ISLAND!

Here we are for episode 809! In which Geeky Panda gets a look around the lab and there is even more nonsense than usual! Meanwhile, Paul shares an audio diary from his final trip to The Little Island in 2025. All this and Paul also receives surprise news from his French Teacher, Alex... We also have a new song called YOU'RE A TEASE (BUT YOU PLEASE ME) which features on the forthcoming Mr Yeti's new album, THE UNLIKELY RETURN OF SHY YETI... However this is an alternate version of the song (VERSION 14), exclusive to this episode rather than the versions that feature on the new album. Our next episode, #810 sees us wondering where exactly our new recruit, Frederik has gotten to... will Paul have an ace up his sleeve just in case of emergencies! SUTTON PARK (A VERY STRANGE PLACE)

Another early track written for THE STRANGE WORLD OF SHY YETI album in 2024 - I had to do one about Sutton Park; the bizarre improvised video series that I made between 1992 and 2001, with many returns in different formats since! This one definitely has early Human League and Cure influences - although it's pretty poppy too!

SQUEAKY KERFUFFLE (RADIO EDIT)

This is based on a poem that I wrote a while back now called MICE, TAP-DANCING which I've always been fond of. It was the last song to be completed for the album. SQUEAKY KERFUFFLE is a line from the song and was one of the titles that Udio suggested and so I thought that I'd keep it! This version for THE STRANGE WORLD OF SHY YETI album is the shorter radio edit version!

MY FAVOURITE MONSTER (RADIO EDIT)

Another early track for THE STRANGE WORLD OF SHY YETI; in fact I think it was the very first one that I completed. It's dedicated to my friend Mateusz (aka Grizzly) who I have done a lot of recording with on the podcast in the last year. "Matty" gets a name-check in the song. I love this one SO much! ;)

MASTER TINY, GIANT JIM (SINGLE EDIT)

This song for THE STRANGE WORLD OF SHY YETI (2024) was written for my friend PJ and it's all about a relationship between a submissive giant and his rather over-bearing friend. Not that PJ is either of those; it just came from a conversation that we had about giants and tinies. It's quite a goth pop anthem and there are quite a few different versions of this one - maybe I'll share some more of them on the next album as extra tracks.

LUCA THE TIME TRAVELLING BEAR (RADIO EDIT)

This one for THE STRANGE WORLD OF SHY YETI album is more late 70s/80s new wave in style and it's named after my friend Gianluca who appears on the podcast. A few of the early songs were written specifically referencing the names of friends who have been very supportive of me in recent months. I'm not sure why I made Luca a time travelling bear... it just seemed to make sense at the time! I love the ending of this; the Ai just came up with the whooping vocal which I thought was so different, unusual and - hopefully - memorable.
